Phang Nga

Phang Nga is a province just north of Phuket with incorporates Phang Nga bay. Which is a 400km² of shallow marine waters surrounding 42 islands, limestone cliffs and caves. It lies between the Island of Phuket and southern Thailand. Much of the area is now designated and protected as the Ao Phang Nga National Park.

The bay is home to mangrove, sea grasses and coral reefs. There are many different species of fish, reptiles, amphibians and mammals which include the White Handed Gibbon and the Black Finless Porpoise.

Ko Tapu or James Bond Island, as it refered to locally is a focal point and is included in most tours. Scaramanga and 007 did much to promote the bay with the James Bond classic ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’. Other attractions include the mangrove swamps and caves, Koh Panyi Village, (a Muslim village of 400 homes, restaurant and shops built on stilts in the shallow waters). A wealth of land and sea activities such as trekking, canoeing, diving, snorkeling, game fishing and camping are there for all to enjoy.
